Keynote speaker Dr. Jannell MacAulay, a U.S. Air Force combat veteran, pilot, and Ph.D. in Strategic Health and Human Performance, opened the Summit with a powerful reminder about the role of focus in leadership.

One insight that resonated with many attendees was the impact of digital distractions. Research shows that when a phone or device is present in a meeting—even if no one is actively using it—roughly 20% of attention is already lost. In a world where leaders are navigating constant information, competing priorities, and rapid technological change, the ability to remain present and focused may be one of the most valuable leadership skills today.

Dr. MacAulay also shared that nearly 49% of our attention drifts throughout the day, meaning that leaders must become intentional about how they direct their focus. Drawing from her experience in high-pressure environments, she emphasized that clarity of mind and presence are essential for making sound decisions when it matters most.

One of the most impactful parts of the Summit was an executive panel discussion moderated by Kelly Brothers, where three regional CEOs spoke candidly about the moments that shaped their leadership journeys.
